Virginia Paving Purchases Plant in Norfolk

(CHANTILLY, Va.)—The Virginia Paving Company, a division of the Lane Construction Corporation, has purchased the Contractors Paving Company in Norfolk. With this acquisition, Virginia Paving now operates nine asphalt plants in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

“The Norfolk plant is top-notch,” states Dennis Luzier, Virginia Paving Company District Manager. “Virginia Paving is extremely fortunate to add such a quality facility and workforce to its organization.”

The Norfolk plant, which Virginia Paving purchased from Contractors Paving on August 28, 2009, employs 159 people and sits on 16-plus acres near I-264. The plant site was established in 2003 and is outfitted with a 500 ton per hour state of the art plant. Ron Burton, former manager of Virginia Paving’s Stafford County and Fredericksburg plants, has been named the Norfolk operations manager.

“Virginia Paving’s Norfolk plant is up and running,” adds Burton. “During this mostly administrative transition, we’ll continue to produce a quality product and provide reliable services to private and public customers throughout the Tidewater region.”

Consistently recognized by the asphalt industry and statewide construction and environmental groups for its outstanding commitment to safety, the environment and communities, Virginia Paving now employs over 500 workers throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Virginia Paving is one of the premier asphalt pavement producers and paving contractors in the Commonwealth of Virginia, providing quality services for the construction and maintenance of transportation systems, commercial projects and residential developments.
