Virginia Paving, which is a division of the Lane Construction Corporation, is consistently recognized by Lane, the asphalt paving industry, and statewide construction and environmental groups for its outstanding commitment to safety, the environment and communities.
In 2009, the Loudoun location was named Lane’s Safest Plant of the Year and Stafford plant manager Ron Burton received the Safe Employee Award by the Heavy Construction Contractors Association (HCCA). In 2008, the Stafford location was also Lane’s Safest Plant of the Year while Virginia Paving was awarded HCCA’s Safety Award—Paving Operations.
In 2009, the Alexandria location was voted the Gold Winner in the first annual Lane Community Service Awards for successfully creating ‘shared value’ in the Alexandria community. (The Loudon location finished fourth.)
Four Virginia Paving facilities (Alexandria, Chantilly, Garrisonville and Sterling) have been awarded the National Asphalt Pavement Association’s (NAPA) Diamond Achievement Award in 2008 and 2009. Presented annually by NAPA, the Diamond Achievement Award recognizes select facilities throughout the U.S. that demonstrate a level of excellence in environmental practices, permitting, regulatory compliance, appearance, operations, safety and community relations.
In 2009, NAPA also selected VirginiaPaving.com as the best Web site in the U.S. and named Virginia Paving a finalist in the ‘Asphalt Operations Safety Innovation’ category and the ‘Ecological Awards for Existing HMA Facility.’
In 2008, the Alexandria location was named the Most Outstanding Business Recycling Program in Virginia by the Virginia Recycling Association (VRA) for its commitment to source reduction, reuse, recycling, litter prevention and buying recycled products.
